David & Louie write a "Long Goodbye".
David Hidalgo & Louie Pérez of Los Lobos and Latin Playboys revisit their roots. During the past year and when they could find the time, David and Louie of Los Lobos and Latin Playboys fame took to the road for a series of Songwriter shows celebrating their 40 years of songwriting collaboration. The shows were a chance for them to play songs from their voluminous and varied catalog while also discussing the genesis of many of their songs and the songwriting process. The two also released a limited edition CD entitled “Unreleased Songs and Rare Recordings” which brought to light several songs written though the years which had never been released before. During the process of sifting through various songwriting notes and recordings, the guys came across a Latin Playboys track entitled “In 1964”. It’s a spoken work piece that was originally a poem published in the LA Weekly. Along with a handful of other unreleased songs it will make up a new release entitled “The Long Goodbye” which will be released Jan. 19th in select independent stores and online at www.latinplayboys.org In addition to “The Long Goodbye” CD, the guys will also be releasing a limited edition companion songbook with drawings by Louie Perez as well as new Latin Playboys shirts. Forthcoming will be a book of photography and a new Latin Playboys album! All items and information can be found on their website.
